Hey guys, I am having issues with ridicolously low framerates in heavy crowded areas. Yes I know something like this is expected, but not in the amount I am having it. In Dalaran my fps is around 5-15 dependend on which area, BGs like Alterac Valley I straight up ignore because of the 3-5 fps I am having in the big battles, 25 raids are the same... In areas where I walk alone I have between 40-60 fps.
But it is not only the framerate, the whole client is extremely slow, logging in and out with characters costs so much more time than it should.
I have a solid system with an Intel Core i7 - 7700HQ CPU and a Geforce GTX 1060 with 8 GB RAM which can play any other game like Fallout or Witcher almost flawless. The CPU and GPU are only working at 5-10 % with the game on.
Here are the things I already tried to fix it:
- Reinstalled the client and used other clients, also a client which does not use the updated face models. (No Change in fps)
- Turned off any addons. (No change in fps)
- Tried Window mode, setting all the graphics to low etc. Basicially I tried out every ingame Video and effects setting. (Disabling the shadows gave me 5 fps or so in Dalaran, but even with the shadows disabled I sometimes get 3 fps in 25 Raids)
- Made sure, that the client is using the GTX and set it to High Performance mode. (No change in fps)
- Tried to use all of my RAM with Larger Adress Aware. (First I thought it worked, but I guess it was only because I tried it, while Dalaran was not as full as usually.)
- Moved the game to a SSD and other drives and tried to play it from there. (No change in fps)
- Tried to use all of my cores in editing the Config.wtf. (SET processAffinityMask "15" for my 4 cores.) (No change in fps)
- Tried to write SET gxApi "opengl", "direct3d" and "d3d11" in the config.wtf. (No changes)
Worth mentioning is, that when I start the game really fast, the loading screens are almost instant and for a few seconds I run in Dalaran with the expected 60 fps and then the system kinda remembers that it isn't supposed to work and I get my 10 fps again.^^
I don't actually believe that the fault lies within the Warmane client, but in my computer, but I searched the whole internet for solutions and haven't found anything that helped. The only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet is reformating my computer but because of reasons I don't want to do that if it could be otherwise helped.
Maybe one of you knows of something I haven't tried, I'd really appreciate it! :)
With your spec, you shouldn't have any problems, even running the game at full.
When was the last time you reinstalled your windows?
Did you check background programs that might eat up all your resources?
@Skullatbash I tried out every videosetting, resolution, effect and sound there is and I have the latest gpu drivers. I don't believe that the problem is in the settings.
@Ossiriss I reinstalled Windows 1 and a halfish year ago. And I checked the background thoroughly, there is nothing that eats up my RAM out of the ordinary. I downloaded the Wise Memory Optimizer to cleanse the RAM before I go to a raid to barely boost the framerate.
Just download a clean 3.3.5 client, not the modeled one.
I've seen it lag on Ryzens 5 3k+
I've seen it lag on I7 6700k
I've seen it lag on FX8350
Once you get a clean client and do some maintenance you will have no more fps drops
Also don't forget this is a 2010 game, it was supposed ot run on 86x systems.
You can use the tool from the link to try update your wow.exe and see if it helps. https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...-aware.112556/
