1. Make some in-game titles available as forum titles

    Greetings,

    This never crossed my mind before but now that the new season of Frostmourne will award its Loremasters and Battlemasters with forum titles, why can't this be done on other realms? Like what's the difference between earning let's say Loremaster on Icecrown or doing so on Frostmourne. Only Frostmourne players should have this privilige cuz they played the new realm?

    I don't mean every single title of course. Only the difficult and prestigious ones, like the "Loremaster" and "Battlemaster" indeed, maybe "The Insane" should make it to the list along with all the high-end arena ones or some difficult PvE metas and the list could always be expanded. Raid and Dung achies are owned by many players so I don't think it'd look nice to see every Forum user with the "Kingslayer" title, like in-game.

    It's not everyday you see a casual forum user with a title. It's rarer than all the aforementioned titles combined. Maybe it should stay this way, so having any kind of title on the forum will remain super prestigious. But maybe it'd bring more colour and life to those long thread convos. I don't know how hard this would be to implement, I'm thinking of a system with an interface where you can select any of your characters and see if it has any titles worthy of being put under your forum name.

    Mabye this would give new motivation to some players to play the game more and get into doing achies, or juuuust maaaaybe it could be a service which you can purchase by POINTS, not coins. This would add some extra value to having a forum title, like 100 points to get 1 title from the game into the forum.

    What do you think? It's pretty lame to see 99.9% of forum users as "members".

  2. I can give three reasons from the top of my mind.

    a. Frostmourne players will receive this as a reward for achieving specific things in the server. If everyone who has some title gets to use it, it's not a reward for that server anymore;

    b. What are "difficult and prestigious titles"? Is there a consensus among each and every player? What if someone with "difficult and prestigious titles" finds them ugly and would rather use a different one? Any lists of "these are worthy, those aren't" would disappoint players;

    c. Forum titles are manually set up by Palutena and there's no mechanism to switch back and forth at will (and I'm not sure Edifice would be up to coding one with all he already has to handle). I'm very, very skeptical that she would be up to changing titles all the time for all characters that earn a "difficult and prestigious title," even more so for people who might have more than one title.

    This is just a more restricted version of the suggestion always denied to allow players to use custom titles of their making (which would come with some extra issues, but the essence is similar).

    I understand. That only reason I asked this now is the new title reward system on Frostmourne, I've never thought about this before. So If I start a Frostmourne char on this account and earn both Loremaster and Battlemaster which one am I getting? With the no-switch option in mind.

    It's also true that making this available on every realm would take away its Frostmourne specificity. I didn't know that chaning and modifying these titles are done by only 1 person and that coding this is troubled. It would indeed be a chaos to have only one staff member changing titles constantly, that's why I thought there could be an interface and system for this.

    One thing I don't agree with is that there isn't a consensus between players about titles. When it comes to difficulty I think it's pretty clear which achies take the most grinding. Not time, grinding. For example doing the "Veteran Nanny" achievement takes 3 years total but it's nowhere near being hard. It does not even give a title, I just brought it up as an example. Your acitve input is like 30 minutes each year.
    You are right about the fact that people have different preferences, someone might just not like the way "Battlemaster" sounds and let's say he'd rather go with having "The Diplomat" just because it sounds nicer to him, but isn't hard to achieve by any means.

    What I'm trying to say is that kindof everyone agrees on the achievements that take the most grinding and active input, what people might not agree on is how these titles would represent them on the forum only because the way they sound. I mean I'll be a little self-shaming here and also a bit ironic looking back at what I wrote, my favourite sounding title is "Guardian of Cenarius" so I sometimes use that instead of my real favourite ones that I only use because I know the work and dedication they represent, which is a title's real job, after all.

    It all comes down to the common "to each their own" situation, so I'm not going to complain :D
