WotLK Lacking in gear ( low level )

So I'm currently a lvl 16 mage on Lordaeron and I'm still wearing gear I got in Brill at lvl 8, am I missing something? its getting to the point where 1 on 1 encounters are getting difficult, any advice is welcome and thank you in advance!

Buy gear in AH or get tailoring and craft yourself something decent as you level. You might also want to queue a few dungeons while you level and get some nice gear pieces. Don't forget to periodically check trainer for stronger spell ranks since you rely on that more than melee classes. Consider leveling as Frost for kite potential.
