WotLK Combat Rogue or Ret Paladin for a new player? And a question about professions.

Hi guys. I am new in the game, so as the title say, is more easy to play as a rogue or a paladin? Just for PVE.
Also, if I decide to play as a Ret Paladin, which professions I should learn? I saw people saying it is Eng + JC. Is that right? Should I learn both right from the start or I shoul learn first something to make gold, etc?

Paladins are easier to get into. Rogue is more desireable as a DPS later in the game when raiding.
For professions you should check a class guide. They usually talk about best professions - they're either Eng+JC, BS+JC or Eng+BS. The difference is miniscule really. I'd recommend getting 2 professions that complement each other before you think of min-maxing professions. Mining + BS would be a good start. Then when you get geared and rich enough money switch mining for something else.
