1. battlegrounds

just a reminder to all you pvpers that play battlegrounds.

no need to capture flags or hop in a demolisher to break down walls
having the highest amount of damage is more important.

also having the highest damage in bgs will automatically cap the flags and destroy walls for you.

  2. Oh! Thank you for confirming my thoughts!
Good to know I've been doing alright in battlegrounds so far, no matter what other people said. They must be mad and bad.

  3. What really really happens:

The team having the highest amount of damage wipes the beach clean, camps the graveyard, yet still make it to yellow gate and successfully destroy every tank as if they were paper, while farming damage and kills.

It's all part of the plan :D

  4. You need to understand that you cannot finish objectives without winning fights. And you cannot win fights without damage.

You can have a great objective-oriented teamplay, but if you cannot kill that flag carrier due to low damage, you lose.
If your flag carrier dies in the middle of WSG without support, because half of your team is dead at GY due to low dmg, you lose.
If you try to cap a flag at Blacksmith in AB, but you cannot kill those 3 defenders, you will not cap it and you lose.
If the enemy assaults your bunker in AV, but you cannot kill the defenders and they burn it, you lose.
    Do I need to continue?

Of course, the most successful team would have best of both worlds. Great damage and coordinated objective-oriented play. But it just does not happen that often. However, everything else equal, the team with better damage (and healing!) usually wins.

We also need to talk about the goals of various players that enter BGs. Some people just want to have fun and see some big numbers. And let's be honest, there's nothing wrong about that. It's not always about winning the BG. Even lost BG can be tons of fun. If you really care about winning each game, then maybe you should organize some premades or try Rated Battlegrounds.

You absolutely CAN finish objectives without winning fights. It's just that nobody does that because Warmane PvP shifted from objective-play several years ago to mindless BiS farmfest that Icecrown's design nurtures.

All it takes is few people to kill the flag carrier together. Flag carriers are almost always alone and can be killed easily - you don't need "high" damage.
Sure, that's correct and only because WSG is mindless PvP HK farm ****fest by design.
If you try to cap a flag where there's people you're doing it wrong. There's 5 total bases in AB. Ninja capping flags is easy as pie because nobody defends it. Of course, nobody caps them either because they're busy mindlessly "PvPing" on roads hence the OP's post.
If the enemy assaults your bunker in AV and you cannot kill defenders you might lose. It depends on whether your team is Icecrown "PvP premade" like POKEMONS or some similar group led by the hunter that won't cap a flag to save his life (you know which one). If it's not, chances are few people who actually care about objectivevs (total of 5 of them usually) will do the work of the other 35 homo sapiens fighting in the Field of Strife. If your stealthers are half decent, the AV can be done within 10 minutes. All it takes is a few rogues or ferals creating pressure. I've fought against Alliance teams whose rogues had 30 towers/graveyards capped. You read that right, THIRTY. People had to constantly defend, forcing them to back and reducing the numbers at the "front" which eventually cost us the game. It wasn't won by PvP, it was won by objective-play. All it takes to win is to go behind enemy lines and create pressure by constantly capping or by plainly burning towers which, again, NOBODY does because big KDs in an MMORPG (I'd understand in a shooter but in a single fight in an MMO?) are very important.

As for the "goals" of the BG. You claim that lost BGs can be tons of fun. Who are they fun for? The hunter who went 30/0 with 3 pocket healers and lost the game basically single-handedly by making sure everyone followed him like Hitler? Is farming 3 people on a single graveyard in a 40v40 game considered "fun"?

OP's attitude is justified - Warmane PvP is terrible because Icecrown enables it to be with its BiS end-game oriented "gameplay".

Im honestly happy that first part is happening. Running towards objectives is literal braindead drone tier gameplay. Bots can farm herbs, mine ore, do objectives in battlegrounds but they certainly cant HK farm in any capacity. Playing BG's for objective is the same as questing or doing dungeons and there is 0 reason to if you're bis.

In terms of who its fun for: Its gonna be fun for the premade. If you dont like the way the BG is going you are always free to leave. Always que 2 bg's at once and if you dont like the way one is going, wait for the other one to pop and join. Our premades always do this so that if we get a bunch of tryhard andys on our team who just wanna cap flags and win, we can go next.

People have hundreds of thousands of HK's because they enjoy the playstyle, just like people have 853 LODs because they enjoy the playstyle. Nobody says it has to be challenging, it just has to be fun. If you dont like playing with other players, who might not have the same objective as you then i would advice you to get a premade or join multiple ques at once. Nothing wrong with BiS people not wanting to walk flags like it actually matters.
