1. Constructive feedback for the new matchmaking updates

    Hello Warmane dev team,

Everything is more perfect than ever now and i want to give you very positive feedback about last changes. Good Job and keep it up!

One remark and It is regarding initial group formation system on every BG:
    - BGs are still starting with around 70% of their capacity. For example AB is for 15 ppl per team, BG is starting with 10ppl on every team and other 5ppl are popping in the time frame of 5 mins after match is already started and after preparation time. This is crucial leading to disadvantage for one or another team at the beginning. No Buffs for the new people, no tactics discussed at the preparation time, sometime matches are even less than this 5 mins time frame.
    - Because of the point above, sometimes one of the teams is with more people at the start right after preparation time, which leads to disadvantage.
    - Crucial for AV or Isle, because they are starting sometimes even with 20v20ppl.

    How this could be solved:
    - Now when we have this faster matchmaking system implemented, would also be better to rice requirements to pop a BG for people in Queue, only if in the queue you have 100% of the people required to form teams for the BG.
    - To improve this system which is adding additional players after queue pop and player enter the BG to be faster, so we can have all of the people at their capacity on every team 1 min before doors open. That way everyone could prepare on time and teams sizes will start equal.

  2. Stuff like this (or 10v10 AB) usually happens because a premade is queued and called to join and then they don't enter. There is not much that the system can do about it.

  3. Stuff like this (or 10v10 AB) usually happens because a premade is queued and called to join and then they don't enter. There is not much that the system can do about it.
If this is a thing, BG queue system must be improved. If premade, premades or single players do not enter the call for a new BG, system must immediately call next players on the queue line to enter and fillup the gaps. Maybe now this process is done with a big time delay, because we can see more people are joining, but too late, system process for recall function is slow. Matchmaking system must guarantee equal players are joined the match right before start in the preparation zone.

  4. I suppose that in that situation the problem is that there simply aren't any more players in queue to replace the premade.

  5. Hey there, let me clear up a few things about the battleground matchmaker system. For random battlegrounds the system will initially always start with requiring the maximum number of players per team, if no match is possible that required player number will slowly decrease over time which is probably what you're seeing.

An imbalance of players at the start of the battleground is always from one (or many) players not accepting the invite. Unfortunately, we cannot control if the players accept the queue or not. The matchmaker will never invite more players on one team than the other, it is always balanced. To take your screenshot as an example after the initial invite wave the backfill process will then play "catchup", inviting only horde players until the teams are equalized. Keep in mind premade groups have special queue handling and usually their impact is fairly limited as they aren't initially in the same pool as everyone else.

The backfill process operates as fast as possible, updating every few seconds and is given priority over everything else. A player is given 45 seconds to accept a queue invite, and as such until then their spot is reserved. If that player is idle it will take at least that long before the system can begin looking for replacements.

I suppose that in that situation the problem is that there simply aren't any more players in queue to replace the premade.
This is most likely the correct answer. Battlegrounds are split into several dynamic gear brackets, this makes battlegrounds more "fair" but at the cost of splitting the player pool and as such unable to consistently start battlegrounds at the max player count or struggle to back fill in certain cases and time of day.

Everything is always a trade off, we have to walk a very fine line between having acceptable queue times while also having as fair and balanced battlegrounds as possible.

  6. Hi Takenbacon,

Thank you for the detailed clarification!
