1. New player to Warmane and to Wrath of the Lich King

    Hello everyone.

I just joined Warmane server and community, i come from years of retail since Pandaria, i also played recently both vanilla and tbc classic, i have left retail for several reasons mainly the fact that yes retail is packed with people but also with bots and all of the GDKP stuff going on, i never played on a private server so this is going to be my first experience. I also never experienced Wrath of the Lich King, i don't know if Warmane is as close as it used to be back then but i will give it a go.

I have searched and listened to some advice and videos and everyone talks about Warmane, that it's a good server and packed with people, since i'm looking for an experience close to retail i will be playing on Lordaeron i think that one has blizzlike xp if i'm not wrong? Also how well is the scription on the server regarding quests, npc dialogues and so on? Is the server staff active with the community, bug fixing and so on?

I have heard things about the toxicity on the server, i guess i will make my own mind over time and to each their own in my opinion but i bet that one can also find decent people here.
One more thing, i know that the game has a store that has given this server a somewhat p2w branding, is that store available in all the realms or only in some and are the items exclusive to the store or also obtainable in-game as well?

Does Warmane client accept addons? If so which ones are recommended for a new player? The use of a vpn like exitlag is it bannable offense or allowed to use?

  2. Hey,
Servers are packed and that means there is full range of people, to find and join in whatever you are into.
Lordaeron is x1 rates, but it has some custom edits - concerning raids, it's quite harder in comparison. And you can not buy items on website store on this realm, but you can buy geared characters from other players, tee hee

About toxicity, if you excpect random dudes in the world, pugs and rdfs to be your best friends from high society - nah. All the good ones are already in guilds sticking togeather. But you can join or create nice community with likeminded people easily, there is enough to pick from.

You can use addons, tough you have to look for ones that work with wotlk 3.3.5, can be found out there and here on forums also, even custom made ones specifically for Warmane.

About vpn, it's risky, and free ones will pretty much get you banned 100%.

  3. Hello Angrylol and thank you for reaching out.

I was also wondering if there is a sure way to know the server population and also how the faction balance looks like in Lordaeron?
You mentioned that the server has some custom edits, is there a list with those or it's just that raid bosses are harder?

Is the auction house specific to each server or cross server? Is it viable to sell stuff from the professions in the auction house as a means to make gold?

  4. Not sure about specific values of edits, as far as I know it's only in raids. Some bosses have shorter enrage timers, some have more hp, stronger spells and such - so it is a challenge. Idea is that players have to actually know what they are doing.

AH is for each realm and also separate for both factions(exception is Frostmourne realm, where both factions trade together in AH). And using AH to make gold is a good way, since all the resources in world are getting vacuumed up real fast on this high population.

  5. And about the future of the server? We know that Classic Wrath is coming in a near future, will Warmane suffer? I'm asking because the trend seems to be people staying in private servers and then move to retail once something they enjoy is released there.

  6. As I see it,
Activision make mechanisms to suck the bucks out, instead of making good games.
wotlk will probably be last of their "classic" xpacs.
it will be great for a year or so, but after that people will simply not pay those bucks anymore

what would oneshot warmane is if Activision launched wotlk classic, sucked the bucks for a year and then left it as F2P legacy thing. But such a thing as wotlk classic serving as f2p advertisement is impossible, they would be forced to monetize it with subs or p2w chash shop. Judging from surface i see, Warmane is safe.
