Does anyone know if its against the rules to send someone your discord name so they can add you as a friend?

I made a new friend in game today and wanted to add him as a friend on discord. So i sent him my discord name and as i did that i got kicked from the game and was IP ban.

It's not against the rules. It happened immediately? Many people use Discord usernames to scam others and such. Perhaps you were caught in some automatic system. Appeal it and it should be ok.

Unfortunately when they IP ban for some reason they lock opening a ticket. I found some info email on the forums and emailed that but its been hours :( all i want to do is get back to leveling :(

You not the first person to tell me that. imagine taking leave to enjoy playing wow only to get ban for making a friend in the game and then having 0 viable way of getting it sorted in a decent amount of time. Rip

Alrighty, For those following this trend.

It was warmane's anti spam that imposed the IP ban.

Recommendation: If you have already sent someone your discord name / server link and they require it again rather get them to send you their discord name and then send them the invite via discord.

There was atleast 2-3 hours between me sending the first and second discord name soooo.... rather be safe then sorry.


@warmane, I would suggest atleast putting your info email under support - Create ticket in these situations instead of straight out blocking the person from all support means.

No "anti-spam" would ever ban an IP. We only impose IP bans on IPs that have been repeatedly used to break our rules, which applies to probably all free and maybe even a few paid VPN services.
