Site Coins for character trading

The website says I need 5 coins to sell my characters (on Icecrown).
Does that mean I just need to earn 5 coins, by selling gold or items? Or do I need to donate?

You need to donate to be able to use trade section.

No. You actually have to donate for at least a mininum amount of coins.

You can't even sell gold at all until you've donated for 5 coins at least once.
