WotLK Question regarding transmog

I want back the original look on my gear, can I use a scroll of deception on, say, my already transmogged shoulders, and then apply that essence to my shoulders? Or is the only solution to buy a scroll of purification.

Will the essence I get from the shoulders be their original form, or will it be the look of the transmog?

I'm not an expert in the tmog field but as I seen from personal experiences, once you tmog your part you can't revert the changes, I never tried that but my theory is that you cannot tmog a part with it's same exact escence also if you think about it, why there would be an scroll of purification if you could just simply re-apply your part escence to revert the tmog? Also that wouldn't be good for the business if you know what I mean.
