I would like to know, too. I've heard October 5th, but can't confirm anywhere. Does anybody know?
Making new threads won't help, there are tons of bugs and not enough people play testing on PTR realm
You want TBC faster? Go test **** out and help the devs.
Are they offering Coins for successful bug discoveries? I can assure you, after spending dozens of hours on this PTR that there are not "tons of bugs" as you say. I came to Warmane because the owner of the TBC server I was a dev for went AFK going on 2 months now, and I have to say, Warmane has a way better crew.
Give me access to some level 1 GM commands like .tele. Perhaps a ground mount to get started. All the revered heroic keys. Instant flight paths. The ability to solo or dual-box raids and heroics and I'll find every single imperfection that exists.
What happened to the code from their other two 2.4.3 TBC servers, Archangel and Outland?
As I replied to you four days ago;
I think Warmane are in a little bit of tough spot at the moment. The amount of players that have come into the server to play TBC is overwhelming. I fully expect that the server will have more than 12k active population at the start of the new expansion.
If I had to guess their initial plan when they launched Onyxia was to run each expansion for about a year. But when they saw how many players have flooded the server to prepare for TBC they opened the TBC PTR (only 22 days after the Naxx release) to show the intention of Onyxia's progression to the new expansion and to clear out as many bugs as they can before the launch.
But the fact is - An entire new continent, almost complete rework of the talents for every class, new abilities for characters, new dungeons, new raids and I am sure many more things that I cannot perceive as a player and not a developer... Scripting those things takes time, a lot of time.
I don't think they are capable of giving us an exact date yet. And if they gave us an estimated date and they fail to deliver, then they would look unprofessional, which is why I think they are not making an announcement yet.
Obviously, I am hyped for TBC just as everyone else, so I do want it to come as soon as possible too. But all we can really do is test on the PTR and report any bugs we find. So yeah, I am hoping their next announcement answers these questions:
- Is there going to be a TBC pre-patch ?
- If yes, what is it going to contain ?
- - PVP items now purchasable with honor ?
- - TBC talents ?
- - Draenai and Blood elves enabled, alongside their starting zones ?
- - Dark Portal opening event ?
- If yes, what is going to be the release date of the TBC pre-patch ?
Edited: September 23, 2024
Please don't release TBC for it is ready and relatively bug free.
But there are plenty of questions that could be answered without giving an estimated release date. Many things will affect player's choices going into TBC. Simple things like will there be the Tinnitus debuff for drums? Or can Draenai / Blood Elves be leveled up during prepatch?
Players want to pick their main and level up professions now.
I wondered this as well, but Naxx was meant to be launched in June and I doubt it would've gone for 5 months. I think what's happening is Classic players and nostalgic players are adamant about having a blizzlike experience which is forcing more fine tuned development and causing delays. I haven't seen people complain this much on a private server about bugs ever, but that's just because the player base expects the same experience they had and aren't used to the private server experience.
Also, progression of content that has been played before gets tired really fast. Players already know how to beat it, there are 50 million guides on it too. It's cleared on day one. It has maybe only needed and been two months per phase up to this point. Naxx I thought maybe they would do three months because of Atiesh and some final guilds struggling to complete the content. Most of us are bored and tired already, but I bet 3-4 weeks from today and we will all be there.
well, remember that they are using a tbc client for those, now we're gonna be using wotlk client, downgraded on both serverside and clientside but still on the 3.3.5a patch, I'd reckon there'd be lots of different code problems.
While I am not a fan of people obsessively spamming "TBC when?" in global or in the forums, I do think some form of timeline is appropriate to ask for given that one was outlined for all phases of Vanilla. I say that fully understanding that there adjustments needed to that timeline due to unforeseen issues.
My counter argument to all of the people trying to say everything is so difficult and the staff can't possibly give a timeline at this stage is simple: none of this happened in a vacuum. The announcement and planning for this progression realm began in like June 2023. If adequate time wasn't taken over the course of the past 15 months to assess the TBC changes, etc. well that's just poor project management. Not meaning offense, just being honest about the situation as I see it today. There haven't been massive changes to Onyxia since launch in Novemeber of last year so a significant portion of the 310 days since launch was runway to plan and test TBC changes that were inevitably coming as part of this server's progression as well as fixing bugs.
2 months ago the official announcement was made about the XP increase from 3x to 5x "in anticipation of the upcoming expansion to The Burning Crusade."
6 weeks ago as of tomorrow the official announcement that the PTR was open for testing for those that want to contribute.
I'm sorry but if you drop a nearly double XP increase in anticipation of a release, people are going to be expecting the release to be happening in the near future, given that at 5x, you could level every class to 60 even playing casually in a very short period of time. However no updates have been given in 2 months about timeline - that's not the player's fault for expecting some kind of communication from the staff.
Likewise, there's been PTR up for a month and a half and not a single official update as to the status of things. The only PTR release during Vanilla on Onyxia was for the current phase which was announced/opened on June 29th and then the go-live date was officially shared a week and a half later.
If you don't want players starting these threads, spamming in global, and being given misinformation from toxic players - then communicate with the Warmane players where you feel the release likelihood is after 6 weeks of PTR testing. If you can't form a tentative assessment after 6 weeks of PTR testing, again, I'm sorry but that's a project management problem.
You are absolutely right in what you say, we can't have information for 2 months for 5x exp 1 month for PTR and then no answers. But for me, the Warmane team has a problem, most likely with the server, and that's why everything is taking so long. Let's just wait and that moment will come.I'm sure we will have great experience here.
One note from me : If you remember Outland Realm have very big population and then you increase from 12k to 15k. consider this the population will still be large again and we can lose players from a big que.
this guy wrote everything in fact and there is nothing to add here, there was almost a year to prepare the bk, but for special reasons it was not done. For what reasons no one knows. the same stonforge, they transferred lk ??to bk, in three weeks. If it does not work out for you, everyone will understand. write guys, there are difficulties in preparing the bk, we cannot announce the exact date yet. but you better add things from naxxaramos to the store).
That's not how this works. This isn't actually the WoW that Blizzard created. It's a recreation of it and it's nowhere near perfect or predictable. Welcome to private servers. You can try to plan it, but inevitably a couple developers will take a lot more than a few months to adjust and test every single item, ability, mechanic, class etc. over multiple expansions to work exactly as intended especially if you're rebuilding it into the 3.3.5 client and adjusting 40 man raid to 25 man. It's an endeavor that has lasted over a decade. That's why the bugtracker, user feedback and the PTR are so important. And if you look at it you will see actually that hundreds of fixes have happened over the past year.
