I want to bring attention to an ongoing issue in Solo Queue that is significantly affecting the quality of PvP. The experience has changed drastically from Season 25 to Season 26, with a noticeable increase in disruptive behavior such as wintrading and griefing.
In Season 25, wintrading was more contained, but in Season 26, the problem has grown, with multiple players and groups participating in these activities.
Proposed Solution:
Enforce strict and immediate punishments for players engaging in wintrading or disruptive behavior in Solo Queue, rather than waiting until the end of the season to take action.
Why Immediate Action Matters:
Let’s consider a scenario where three players are competing for Rank 1 in their class:
Player A queues consistently but unknowingly encounters wintraders.
Player B is aware of the wintraders and avoids queuing while they're active.
Player C is involved in wintrading.
If action is only taken at the end of the season, Player A has already lost a fair chance to compete throughout the season. Player B benefits from avoiding the issue but is forced to alter their play schedule. Even if Player C is eventually banned, the competition was unfair for the entire season.
By addressing these issues immediately upon confirmation, you not only ensure a fair competition but also prevent other players from becoming discouraged and quitting mid-season. Consistent and immediate enforcement will foster a healthier and more competitive environment, benefiting the entire player base.
I completely agree with this. In fact, many of my friends chose not to finish the season because they were repeatedly griefed and ultimately decided to stop playing. This type of behavior discourages honest players from participating, leading to a decline in activity as the season progresses. It's frustrating to see players who want to compete fairly being driven away due to the actions of a few bad actors. Immediate action is crucial to maintaining a competitive and enjoyable PvP environment throughout the entire season.
I've been playing on Warmane for over five years, and honestly, it doesn't feel like bans are issued quickly. While it's true that wintraders are occasionally banned during the season, the vast majority seem to only face bans at the very end. Take this season, for example wintrading has been blatantly happening for two months at least. Many of my friends and I noticed it and reported it, yet the bans were only issued today.
I'm not sure what caused the delay for the reports you're referring to but I'm almost certain they weren't awarded anything. Similar to how MMR dropping is handled.
Yes, I’m aware they don’t receive any rewards, but the problem is that while these activities are going on during the season, players are losing rating points. This causes frustration, and many people end up getting tilted and quitting the game as a result.
I would like to point out that wintrading is not always as obvious as simply not playing or avoiding the use of cooldowns. It can be much more subtle, involving tactics like mistiming spells, attacking the wrong targets, avoiding key abilities, or intentionally positioning poorly to be easily killed— all of which can give an advantage to the player being fed.
A way to track this is by analyzing gameplay changes, with the help of submitted reports. Observing shifts in normal play patterns could reveal these behaviors, even when they are not immediately obvious.
