It's becoming increasingly clear that there’s a serious issue with how you handle updates and changes on your servers. Recently, significant adjustments—be they nerfs or fixes—have been implemented without any corresponding changelogs or communication to the player base. This is not only frustrating but also unacceptable, especially for a server that generates substantial income from its community.
Warmane is not just a casual hobby project—it’s a professional operation that charges for services and has built a loyal, paying player base. With that comes a responsibility to treat your community with respect. Rolling out silent changes without informing us is a blatant disregard for the time, effort, and money that your players invest in this server.
It’s baffling that a server of your scale and profitability cannot meet basic expectations like publishing changelogs. Transparency is not a luxury—it’s a baseline standard for any service that claims to care about its users. Your current approach erodes trust and sends a message that you’re happy to take our money but unwilling to provide even the most basic level of accountability.
We, the community, demand better. Moving forward, we expect:
Consistent and complete changelogs for every update, detailing all adjustments made—no matter how small.
Proactive communication about planned changes, with an opportunity for community feedback.
Acknowledgment of the value the player base brings to Warmane, not just in funding the server but in keeping it active and alive.
If Warmane wants to maintain its reputation as a leading private server, then this lack of transparency needs to be addressed immediately. Silence and neglect will only drive players elsewhere. It’s up to you to decide if you care enough to fix this.
As it was not mentioned, I'm not sure if you are aware, so please note that their WotLK changelog is for TBC, as well. Here's the first paragraph from their latest (yesterday's), changelog.
"Warmane uses a unified codebase for its Vanilla, TBC and WotLK projects, as such we only provide one changelog.
The changelog is a bit later this month due to the releases of TBC content on Onyxia."
If you go through it, you will see what's applicable to what realm.
If you were aware but wanted more, I would point out that almost every big software company operates very similarly to how Warmane has been operating.
They release an update, and with it a changelog.
In Warmane's case, the players don't need to have their client updated, unlike with Zoom or Discord or any other app really.
With this in mind, I think that they have done a good job.
Now, ideally, if they had a way of automatically tweeting (posting on X) each change as soon as it was made, that would be much appreciated.
