Can you be ip banned for advertising by using a wow launcher from another server instead of the warmane one?. I was playing last night with two friends of mine, and they both got banned due to "advertising". the thing is, the were absolutely not advertising in any shape o form, just playing, they didnt even used the chat once for anything. they both appealed to the support and got the message that this wouldnt be reversed because they where advertising. they didnt said how they were doing that but i suspect that was because they were using the launcher from a diferent server. they only changed the realmlist in order to play and i dowloaded directly from the warmane website.

They absolutely wont get banned for using other launcher, but maybe it was coded like that if they are using it on other servers it sends automated messages on global channels.

I recommend using client downloaded though Warmane's links. Some private servers might edit their clients to advertise their servers.

Funny because I used to play with the same launcher and never got banned for such thing, I just changed because I had to hard reset my system and had to download it again. Now they are ip banned and the support said it was irreversible, tough they never mentioned how exactly they were "advertising"

Yup, we just confirmed, the launcher was programmed to advertise another server, they weren't aware of that. Unfortunately they still got ip banned. Guess that was reasonable and irreversible. So sad.
