It's my fault you didn't specify? Farm copper ore, clam meat, boar ribs, swiftthistle, stranglekelp, oily blackmouth, coyote meat.

If it's your first mount then just level up and save then you will naturally get it. You shouldn't be wasting gold on anything except learning spells and getting your rare mount. You might be a few levels late, but as you level up the gold rate increases and the gap closes fast.
