Mass AFK from Blackrock players — ruining PvP experience
Dear Warmane team,
There’s a growing issue that’s seriously impacting the PvP experience since the cross-realm battlegrounds with Blackrock were enabled. It's become nearly impossible to enjoy battlegrounds due to the consistent AFK abuse from several Blackrock players.
Almost every BG includes multiple players from Blackrock who clearly join only to stay AFK, occasionally moving to avoid the auto-kick and just farming free honor. These players contribute nothing — no damage, no objectives, no healing — and when others try to point this out, they either ignore it or respond with insults.
This isn’t an isolated incident — it’s a systematic, ongoing issue, and it’s making random battlegrounds a miserable experience for those who actually want to play. You queue, you try, and you're stuck carrying players who clearly abuse the system just to gear up for arena.
Honestly, there’s no point even attaching screenshots — the problem is so widespread that everyone who plays battlegrounds regularly has seen it. The only ones who don’t seem to notice are, unfortunately, the staff.
Suggestions:
- Implement stricter tracking of battleground activity (based on DPS/HPS/objective participation);
- Enable vote-kick or some way for teams to remove inactive players;
- Issue penalties or temporary bans for repeated AFK behavior.
Right now, BGs feel like a coin flip where half your team might just be bots or honor leeches. It ruins the experience for competitive and casual players alike. Please don’t ignore this any longer — we need action.
I completely agree. Because of the Blackrock players, PvP on Onyxia has become terrible. There’s not a single BG without AFK characters, and the administration is doing absolutely nothing to fix it.!!
Right after creating this post, I queued for a battleground — and, unsurprisingly, immediately got proof of everything I mentioned.
Screenshots attached:
- In the first two screenshots, you can clearly see one player standing completely still for over two minutes — not moving at all;
- As soon as the AFK warning appears, he suddenly starts moving and joins a fight just to remove the tag.
- Then, once the warning is gone, he goes straight back to AFK, which is shown in the third screenshot, where he's just standing near the Horde graveyard, taking hits and doing nothing.
Final scoreboard: 34k total damage for the entire BG. And honestly, this guy is better than most — others just do a single hit to clear the AFK warning and then go get coffee or tea.
Players like this completely ignore the spirit of PvP, and it happens in almost every battleground. AFKers are destroying team play and turning BGs into a joke.

Yes, I also constantly come across people who are afk and just move once a minute or set to run into the wall. It would be cool if they made a system of fighting them or punishing them for this, and you also need to go through 7 circles of hell to prove a person’s guilt. After which you don’t even want to start writing a report

Warmanes anti cheat is already more strict than originally. They made it more aggressive during the HK farm meta in Onyxia Vanilla.
In many situations these adjustments to the anti cheat are more harm than good.
For expl when you get GY camped by a premade you aren't able to run in ghostform to another GY because the anti cheat kicks you from the BG before you are able to reach another GY to ressurect.
In TBC that's not a big deal but in Wotlk it can be really game breaking because every second BG there ends up in GY camping and the anti cheat system literally forces you to feed the opponnent premade with your body.[/QUOTE]

Such a system is already in place. When multiple players report a person afk he gets the idle debuff and kicked from the BG when he doesn't participate.
I don't think that vote kick is a good idea because player can and will abuse it to kick players that they don't like.
- Issue penalties or temporary bans for repeated AFK behavior.
As far as I know GMs get a notification when a players gets repeatly kicked from BG due to incativity.
It's not as simple as you think to fight afkers. Warmane has already implemented several measures to fight afkers but as I said, these measures also harm regular players.
