I'm a bit tired with a section of the rule essentially stating the following "Player need rolling on gear which is clearly worse than what they had before, despite being for their current class and role"
I think this doesn't apply well to trinkets and some items, especially caster related things.
I have seen so much bad encounters and attitude, report threats and so on around trinkets.
Trinkets, the way I see them, are versatile in many scenarios. There's not necessarily a clear-cut winner sometime. For example: Mote of Anger, on-use stuff with like crit / haste and mp5, solace of undefeated
I've also seen people losing mind on mages rolling on items with MP5
If item has spirit or mp5 people classify it as, and I quote "HELER" item instantly... it's laughable at best.
My latest best is (me as purely pvp player trying to transition pve --having corroded skeleton key-- and needing a swap, informing the priest I will roll on mp5 / on-use haste trinket in HOR, where he essentially says: "Go ahead I will insta report you, it's easy for me"
I'm not sure which trinket you're referring to with Mote of Anger. It's not an item name as far as I'm aware but it is the spell name for the proc on Tiny Abomination in a Jar. Which I'm assuming is not what you're referring to. Do people actually claim that Solace is good for anything but a healer, outside of pvp?
It's not about if the item has a beneficial stat for a dps. Pretty much every healing item has spell power and some specs have talents that scale with spirit but even if you stack spirit it's not going to add up to anything meaningful vs actual dps gear. Your minimal increase in stats doesn't make it worth more to you than someone who actually uses those stats. If it did then we'd have tanks without defense cap, mdps as backups for when the tanks die, casters stacking mana regen, healers with hit and hunters would be living the everything is for hunters meme.

100% this
Mp5 is a dead stat for casters. If you are using MP5 you might aswell equip PVP gear for PVE.
Spirit is a secondary stat, not primary stat, for casters. If a raid utilizes class prio then spirit gear get's prio'd to healers such as disc/resto druid before the rest of the raid, otherwise it's a stat that provides casters with between a 30-60% conversion rate on spellpower, meaning it's viable for casters but not optimal.
Loot rules in Warmane are strict. If you don't follow the BiS list, you can get reported, which means you can't experiment with your class or build. I once saw a Ret with Phylactery and DBW. That guy would've been suspended in-game for half a year if he did loot those items in a raid.
