Is it normal for Deathbringer Saurfang to 1-shot players?
I was playing on Lordaeron and healing as a resto shaman in icc10, my holy pala was healing the tanks and I was healing the dps. At some point Saurfang put blood boil on me, and as usual I was spam-healing to keep myself at 100% health and maintain 10% dmg reduction buff on myself.
Anyway, Saurfang casted blood nova on me doing 17k damage while a tick of boiling blood hit me for 10k damage, resulting in me taking 27k damage in less than 0.1 seconds instantly getting 1-shot. I didn't log the raid so I don't have proof of this happening to me unfortunately.
Here's an uwu-logs report of one of my friend's doing the raid who have proof of concept: https://imgur.com/a/NEbbLMu
In this uwu-log you can observe that the player seemingly takes unmitigated (physical dmg ignoring armor) damage of 32k over the course of 2.28 seconds. Of course one can argue that 2+ seconds is more than enough to heal the player, however, this is simply proof of concept that blood nova and boiling blood are not mutually exclusive. The time interval is quite often much tighter, even to the point of happening at the exact same time frame.
The damage of both blood nova and boiling blood seem to be significantly higher than they're supposed to be, seem to ignore armor mitigation, benefit from saurfangs blood power (resulting in the increased value being up-to doubled the amount it's increased by).
I'm not here to complain, I am here to ask: Is this normal? Is there a work-around to avoid 1-shots in 10 man (I know 25 man you would utilize a disc priest to avert 1-shots). What can you do to avoid wiping with bad rng?
