Right click the chat tab name, then settings, then defaults (bottom-left corner). I'm writing this from memory so the exact names may be different.

If it still doesn't work you may have been muted by a game master.

No, the mute would not make his send button not work. The mute would either give him a message about him being muted or just others not seeing his messages (I don't remember, been a looong time since I was muted).

I interpreted that he pressed enter and the message was apparently sent but didn't show in chat, which is usually chat settings or a mute. But as you said if you press enter and the input field doesn't disappear, that's a lua error

I've had this issue happen with an addon for announcing misdirection. I couldn't type in chat until I turned it off.
