Can a Tank Roll on dps gear in 5 man heroics?

Dear all,

I have a warrior, which I both pvp and pve. In 5 man heroics, it annoys me that if I go dps, the queue takes a long time, but if i go tank, besides being insta queue, but people don't allow me to roll on dps gear, even though i need it for pvp.

If i clearly announce at the start of the 5 man heroic, that i'm doing this for DPS gear and will roll need on it, event thought i'm tanking, would that be considered a bannable offence if i proceeded to roll need and win melee dps gear?

Yes. You don't get to just "clearly announce" whatever and force the rest of the group to play along with it.

You can request or ask if you rolling for off-spec, in this case DPS, item(s) is ok. Ofc, you need ALL of the other players to agree in response. Even one saying no or not answering means you can't roll for DPS item(s).
