1. Help to play on Mac with chip M1

    Hi everyone!

I've been playing on iMac (chip Intel) for the last months perfectly but now on my new setup with chip Apple M1, the installation completes but when entering any realm the same error (#132, 0x85100084) appears, and I read that it is due to incompatibility with the new processor.

Can someone help me somehow install the game on this computer please?

    Thank you!

  2. what trick do you use to run Wotlk for windoes on your mac?

As far as I know only with "parallels" it seems to work in case of M1 cpu:

  3. Honestly i have seen these threads linked everywhere for M1. But they are extremely useless. So i find it extremely hard to believe “omg i installed parallels and it runs on ultra!!!”.
Is there literally a step by step installation via Parallels? Because i paid for the Pro version and can assign tons of CPU and Ram and WOTLK still plays like garbage. FYI i have the M1 Max with 64 GB Ram with max Cores. I got it to run and solo world stuff is fine 100 FPS +. The minute i go to Dalaran it goes to 5 FPS and i assume raids would be similar. I used to play on Bootcamp and also the old Mac client and never experienced such low quality.

everyone have huge fps drop in dalaran.

Wotlk is an old game so it does not benefit that much from recent/powerul CPU and GPU.

Btw do not worry. Raid fight (25 ppl + Boss + spells) are not comparable at all with "Dalaran".

Hello Skullatbash. Do you know anything about the Mac OS option being removed from the download client?

No, I do not know the reason (I am not a staff member)

But I can tell you that:
    1. it is still possible to get magnet link thanks to http://archive.org/web/
    Indeed: https://web.archive.org/web/20220312...e.com/download

    2. wotlk for mac is usable only with MacOS-Mojave or older version.
With Catalina and forward OS version, Mac users need to use windows version anyway.

Whoops, thought you were from how much you help people, thanks!

Thank you for this as well.

I ended up running a windows crossover program which let me play, except the graphics look just terrible. Will try those things out though!

  8. Hello all,

Since there is no clear guide (or at least with a lot of missing steps), I have tried to write something to help people that are still struggling to play on ARM Macs.
It is possible to play wotlk on a Mac ARM thanks to Windows 11 ARM virtualization.
Windows 11 ARM has an integrated emulation system of x86 apps (aka 32 bits Intel apps via set of instruction compatibility) which allows Windows 11 to launch x86 apps.
This system is not compatible with x64 apps (64 bits) yet.

Since wotlk is a 32 bits app (Catalcysm was the first wow developped in 64 bits), we can use this compatibility layer to play the game.

    a) Install a virtualisation software
    2 choices : P
Parallels Desktop (non-free) or VMWare Fusion (free since few months).
It is possible that Parallels Desktop could be more optimized than VMWare Fusion (meaning more frames/second) but this game is 15 years old and it worked perfectly on my M3Pro chip with VMWare fusion.
Here is one link to download VMWare Fusion among many others : https://www.techspot.com/downloads/2...usion-mac.html

Install the app in your Application folder and open it.

    b) Install Windows 11 ARM
Here is a very clear guide explaining how to install Windows 11 ARM with VMWare fusion on a mac. Windows 11 ARM is free to download and the download will be managed by VMWare Fusion :

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9TUIVDUjto

Follow all steps, take care having a well configured Windows 11 virtual machine (i.e., enough RAM, enough CPU units - a simple rule is to allow half of the RAM available as well as half of the CPU cores availables). Please do not forget to install VMWare Tools to enjoy a good resolution (in the video as well)

    c) Mouse & keyboard configuration

Please make sure that your mouse is well configured for gaming purpose (right clic on the Windows 11 virtual machine to access the parameters - the virtual machine should be stopped to make changes in configuration - > Parameters > Keyboard and Mouse > clic twice on the profile that you will use to open options > clic on General tab > in 'Game' section select in the scroll list 'Always optimize mouse for gaming'.

Windows won't take by default your mac keyboard into account. Here is the way to change it,
Settings > Time & Language > Language and Region > Clic on 'Add a language' and select your language. Now the keyboard should be compatible with your mac keyboard layout. Here is the link I have followed to do so : https://forum.parallels.com/threads/...layout.360087/

You have made the hardest, now you need to download the game since Warmane website (I chose torrent download with TransmissionQT, a free open-source peer2peer software).

Once you have downloaded Wotlk, launch it and adjust Video parameters (resolution especially) and graphics parameters if your computer is struggling too much.

So far, I have test it in battlegrounds with a full 60 fps, no drop, no lag whatsoever. I can't hear fans.

I don't know how will be the performance on a 8Go Mac (bad I think) but tell us how it goes in the comments.

I don't know how the performance will be on a 8 Go RAM Mac (bad I guess). It should work fine on 16 Go Macs and more.
