The PvP environment on Onyxia is the result of the HK farming at bridge in AV which lasted for months, in which people got r14 by afking 24/7 and not much was done to prevent that. In the end people got bored, and those who really wanted to do PvP simply left because of the system in place.
Back on topic, many of my friends were planning to come back when TBC launch, and since they mostly do pvp they are likely joining Blackrock. Regardless of my previous posts on the subject, I believe my biggest concern is that linking arenas and bgs between the two realms might negatively affect the population on Onyxia (similarly, we might see less alts around as people might roll them on Blackrock, meaning less PVE activity overall).
On the other hand, I honestly cannot 100% blame those who are happy about the merge. TBC is definitely time consuming: reputations farming and attunements might be a chore to some, so I can understand why a portion of the playerbase wants to skip that to play the mode they prefer.
Personally I am more annoyed by the merging of the two philosophies (progressive blizzlike with QoL, and insta-70 pvp only). This is not what was Onyxia was advertised at the beginning, so honestly no wonder at the moment this change is not welcomed by everyone (myself included).
