1. Accused of 'ninja looting'

I am a new player in WOW and i dont know what this 'lockbox' is so it appeared in the screen and clicked dice and someone messaged me that he will report me and get banned? for what? i did not do anything. Just posting this incase i get banned for a reason id ont know because i see people getting banned everyday. He didnt say anything and just said "you will get banned goodluck".

  2. ninja looting is pressing need on anything that isn't an upgrade for the spec you joined the dungeon as. needing on a lockbox would indeed fall under ninja looting. if they did report you then you may as well prepare for a 5 day vacation.

  3. If you are new to game, why you didn't read rules of private server that you are joining? People tired of all scumbags who want to benefit from them or even steal item that they went for in dungeon finder.
So your ignorance was "rewarded" in such unpleasant way. Only thing worse is when persons who don't even know english go on dumb rampage and "need" everything that drops, despite their class and spec.

  4. I asked GMs in-game few months ago, if you're a rogue you're allowed to roll need on lockboxes. In all other cases, even if you're a blacksmith who can open then, you're supposed to click greed. As said above, if they did report you over a lockbox you'll get banned.

Tbh, I also asked GMs about how players should /roll on lockboxes, and this was their reply:

    lmao nice
guess it's up to luck for the OP

  7. Yet if 4 players in group press greed and one "smart" go for need, it is ninja. Just common sense. 9/10 rdf groups understand it and just go for greed on lockboxes

Do note this is Support & Q/A-section, not some random troll section.

How it's ninja, if people are allowed to? GM's don't consider it ninja. What it is, is a douche thing to do.

  9. No no, i men intentional, when he waits for all to roll greed and go for need with 100% win. This is clear ninja and abuse

  10. Note that i'm speaking as regular player who is part of server. Ofc my voice can't be considered as any rule/statement etc.
And i'm also going for greed on lockboxes despite having several stacks of BS keys on my keyring)

  11. What it is, is a douche thing to do.
Yup. It certainly is (especially if it gets massively abused). However, I kinda agree with Persivaln. Even though GMs might not consider it a ninja looting case, I also believe that it falls in that category. Here's why:

As we all know, one of the reasons to "greed" roll on an item is when a person gets a financial profit from it, and this is exactly what lootboxes offer. They don't give us an upgrade to our main specs but rather a chance to obtain rare BoEs, which we get to sell on the ah or disenchant. For that reason, I also believe that everyone should have equal chances to get that lockbox. It's a mere formality if all party members decide to roll "need" or "greed" on it, as long as no one is put at a disadvantage. Hence why I wrote the following at the end of my thread:

If some of you stumble upon someone, who isn't aware of this rule yet, and you feel bad for them, you could offer a reroll or talk about it at the very beginning of the dungeon run. You won't get banned for selecting NEED for the lockboxes, but you can be the better person and don't put them at a disadvantage. Like I've said, use this information well!
